Kansas Crime Stoppers Association held our annual fall conference at the University of Kansas campus in the student union October 2-4, 2011.  Even though our numbers were down a little from previous years we had a very successful conference.  We would like to thank all the people that helped with the conference especially Lawrence / Douglas County Crime Stoppers.  We will have our 2012 fall conference dates posted in the next couple of months.  Check back with us to see our updates.

Over the past month in Allen County Kansas there have been 28 fires set.  Most of these fires have been pastures and ditches; however, one fire resulted in the loss of 250 large bales of hay valued at $25,000.00, loss to an abandoned home, and loss to a bridge on the Prairie Spirit Trail valued at $30,000.00.  This week tips turned in through Allen County Crime Stoppers has assisted the sheriff’s department in the arrest of a local volunteer rural fireman that had been setting these fires.  21 of the 28 fires have been admitted to.
