Welcome!

Know about an unsolved Crime, Call Kansas Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS!The Kansas Crime Stoppers Association is pleased to welcome you to our web site.  We hope you will find the site informative, easy to use, and one that you will bookmark as a favorite.  Since September 1976 when the first Crime Stoppers’ program was founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this non-profit organization has reached many milestones.  Crime Stoppers became International in 1983 with the creation of the first two programs in Canada.  At the same time, Boulder, Colorado started the nation’s first Scholastic Crime Stopper program.  Now there are over 1,000 community and scholastic programs located in more than fourteen nations around the world, that can boast a recovery of over $5.5 billon dollars in property and narcotics, and a conviction rate of 98% for approximately 420,000 arrests.  Kansas Crime Stoppers Association joined the ranks and was incorporated in August 1987.  The Kansas organization has grown to include 38 local programs and 75 scholastic programs in communities across the state.

The primary goal of Kansas Crime Stoppers Association is to substantially reduce criminal activity in Kansas through the development of community Crime Stoppers programs with citizen involvement.  An additional goal of the current Board of Directors is to increase awareness throughout Kansas in regard to the organization and about issues believed to be of importance to Kansas citizens, students, and member programs.  This web site and the links it provides to other Crime Stoppers programs is a vital tool for fulfilling this goal.  We hope you will visit often and contact us if we can be of assistance in developing a Crime Stopper program in your community or school, or have additional questions that we can answer.  If you have a tip about a crime, please call your local Crime Stoppers program.

Kansas Crime Stoppers Purpose:

Kansas Crime Stoppers Association, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation organized to promote and encourage Crime Stoppers programs in the State of Kansas by serving as a functional and constitutive resource to law enforcement and community groups for program development and training.  The objectives of the association are:

  1. To provide a vehicle for the communication of information on Crime Stoppers programs, projects and techniques, between participating agencies and groups.

  2. To develop or assist in the development of Crime Stoppers programs and projects that have both statewide and local applicability and impact.

  3. To recommend or provide Crime Stoppers instruction upon request and assist in program implementation and uniformity.

  4. To establish meetings to share information as it relates to Crime Stoppers activities.

  5. To obtain funding to accomplish these goals.

Crime Stoppers is a partnership of the community, the media and law enforcement.  Concerned citizens form the non-profit corporation, provide the rewards and oversee the program; the media regularly publicizes the unsolved crimes; and law enforcement takes the tips and investigates the crimes that lead to the arrests.  The cooperation and involvement of each partner is crucial for the success of Crime Stoppers programs today.
